STAFF and residents at a Muir of Ord care home created a volcano and then watched it erupt.

The fiery fun was marking a special occasion and involved a few key ingredients including papier-mâché, Mentos and Irn Bru...

The Urray House volcano was created in homage to Charles Darwin's birthday.

Residents and staff painstakingly crafted a lifelike volcano with a papier-mâché base, adorned with moss and stones for an authentic touch.

The excitement reached its peak as the volcano erupted and ‘molten lava’ cascaded down its side.

The lava was actually created by mixing Mentos sweets with Irn Bru.

Joe Greiner, manager of Urray House, said: “Marking Darwin Day wasn't just about fun explosions; it was a chance for us to ignite the scientific curiosity of our residents, and remind us all of the power of nature.”
