The newly renovated traditional herring boat, St Vincent, launched from the shores of Loch Broom, bound for the Isle of Tanera, at the weekend.

The boat launched from the Johnson and Loftus shipyard at Corrie, into Loch Broom.

The St Vincent is one of two traditional herring boats which have been fully restored to their traditional manner, without an engine.

Craftsmen Tim Loftus and Dan Johnson renovated the boat at their shipyard in Corrie, about 1.5 miles from Ullapool. The renovation, completed last year, was a huge project, taking over a year. Around 70 per cent of the boat's timber needed to be replaced.

The boat is also said to have inspired Compton Mackenzie's infamous comedy, Whisky Galore.
