EFFORTS to solve a flood on an Easter Ross town centre's road at the weekend were praised in a video posted on YouTube.

The Great Alness Flood video was posted by a user called horacethe on Monday and shows Scottish Water operatives in action to tackle a flooded road on Alness High Street after the company was called for a burst pipe.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “We were alerted to a burst pipe on Alness High Street on Sunday which had caused some flooding on the road. Traffic management was immediately put in place while arrangements were made to carry out repairs. A team of engineers was on site early on Monday morning to excavate the pipe and locate the burst, with repairs being completed by late afternoon.

“We would like apologise for any inconvenience caused while we carried out these essential repairs and thank drivers, residents and businesses for their patience while we completed these works.”

The YouTuber's description of the video says that only "the timely intervention of workmen, from Scottish Water, saved the town from being engulfed".
