A HIGHLAND artist who went viral on TikTok has released the much anticipated song and signed a contract with one of the UK's major record labels.

Breakthrough singer-songwriter Katie Gregson-MacLeod, from Inverness, has shared the demo of her highly-anticipated new single ‘complex (demo)’ via Columbia Records.

The young talent, who is a former employee at Perk in the city centre, first shared a video performing part of the song this spring.

The video went viral and it inspired covers by artists such as Camilla Cabello, King Princess, Madison Beer, Tom Walker and others

Marking her first release on the label, the song showcases the newly-signed artist’s rich talent, as her captivating vocals and the track’s sparse instrumentation coalesce into a quietly heartbreaking tale of unrequited love.

The release of complex (demo) follows the independently released single Second Single Bed and her 2021 debut 5-track EP Games I Play.

Katie has already received support from BBC Music Introducing, Radio 1 and BBC Scotland, with Vic Galloway naming her one of BBC Scotland’s 25 Artists to Watch in 2022.
