WATCH: Fundraiser held in memory of Highland baby who tragically died
A fundraiser has been held to remember the life of a baby who tragically died.
Albie McKenzie died two weeks after his first birthday on April 27 with his family being told their little boy had sadly died from sudden unexpected infant death (SUID).
His mum Daisy McKenzie and husband Eoin have now been on a mission to raise funds for Inverness charity Held in our Hearts, which provides peer and counselling support for those who have lost a baby.
They held a party night and auction on Friday evening at the Glen Mhor Hotel where they raised over £2000 for the charity.
Speaking after the event Daisy said: "The event turned out just perfect with good music, good food and great people.
"It’s so important for me to keep Albie's gift going for Held in our Hearts so that he can continue to make a difference and allow the charity to support families at the most difficult time. I really want to make Albie proud.
"I’m feeling proud of what we managed to achieve and blessed to have so much support from so many wonderful people. We raised an amazing £2094."
Attending the event was local MP Drew Hendry and his wife, Councillor Jackie Hendry, who both lost their grandson Cameron.
Speaking at the event, Mr Hendry said: "I've seen a lot families that have gone through the same thing and unfortunately there will be more in the future. It's really important that this charity is up here to help people. They can offer counselling sessions and it's a chance to just someone to speak to who understands it.
"You're able to talk to people who've experienced the bereavement, who've gone through this and you're able to share experiences with those people."
