WATCH: Dingwall Academy leavers count down final seconds of their school years

Dingwall Academy leavers had a “real celebration” for their final day of high school, with their headteacher giving heartfelt best wishes for the young adults entering a new chapter.

On April 19, many young adults across Scotland finished their last ever day of high school, before beginning study leave to prepare for their last batch of exams this spring.

At Dingwall Academy, the school took to opportunity to have a “real celebration of their time here” for all the young people moving on to the next chapter.

The leavers took to the academy corridors for ceilidh dancing, with a colossal round of Strip the Willow.

Then the Dingwall Academy leavers joined together in a circle, to count down the final seconds of their high school days together – a poignant end for the young adults, some of whom have spent almost every day together for thirteen years.

Dingwall Academy headteacher Karen Cormack said: “Our S6’s fabulous final day was great, a real celebration of their time in school. They have been a fabulous group of young people to work with, and have made a tremendous contribution to the school, giving and achieving so much.

“We wish each and every one of them the very best for the future, and hope they will look back at their time here with much fondness – we have no doubt that they are ready to move on and make their mark on the world!”
Locals also shared some words of wisdom for the leavers on the Dingwall Academy Facebook page.

April Costigane said: “Wishing you huge success in the future whatever you decide to do. Work hard and play even harder.”

Alan Kilpatrick added: “Go out there and find what you are passionate about. Make that your aim, and enjoy the rest of your life.”
