ROSS-SHIRE schoolchildren have been denied a lot of their usual annual traditions during the coronavirus crisis.

But the county's largest school was yesterday determined to end the school session on a high with a ceilidh in the car park replacing the usual Christmas socials.

Pupils and staff made the most of the last day of term with music and dance.

The school later posted: "Thank you to everyone who made this possible. Special thanks to all pupils who performed, Dingwall Community Council for the stage, Hamish Polsen for the music, music department for the set up, Mr Dillon for keeping it all together and to all pupils for their amazing energy, enthusiasm and fun!

"Merry Christmas everyone!"

Valerie MacLennan summed up the feelings of many: "Brilliant to see all the pupils and staff enjoying themselves after a really difficult couple of terms."

Jane Drennan added: "Absolutely fabulous – the kids had a great time. Thank you to all those who made it happen."
