Despite their loss Albie's family hope their beautiful boy's sad passing can bring some good for others in the fundraising drive he has inspired.

Plans for sponsored walk covering the equivalent of the length of the UK have been moved to next month instead of September.

Individuals and businesses are signing up to help fundraising for the Held in our Hearts baby loss support charity, via Albie's Gift.

The initiative has been set up by Inverness mum Daisy McKenzie and husband Eoin after a tragedy that has robbed them of their beloved baby son Albie.

He died in his sleep, a fortnight after his first birthday.

In an act of astonishing generosity aimed at helping others like them, the family have embarked on a major fundraising drive on behalf of Held in our Hearts that is now supporting them through the worst time imaginable.

The charity currently works in Inverness through a room kindly supplied by the city's Glen Mhor Hotel and Apartments offering support for up to two years with one counselling session per week, which costs £50.

The family are working with King's Church in Inverness to take forward fundraising plans under the touching guise of Albie's Gift.

The aim is to do as much fundraising as possible between now and what would have been his second birthday next April.

Daisy explained why the sponsored walk was brought forward: "We changed it to August because I thought it could be a fun thing for kids to get involved in with their parents while they’re off [school].

"We have 37 teams taking part but absolutely anyone can still sign up via Albie's page.

"We have a lot of exciting events coming up."

A quiz night due to be held at the church on August 18 is already fully subscribed but a raffle will be offered online in early August too.

Frankie and Lola’s and Moo Music are also set to do events.

Teams that have already signed up for the walk include representatives of King's Church, McDonald’s in Nairn and Les Enfants Nurseries in Inverness.

More details of the fundraising efforts are available via Facebook under Albie's Gift. Anyone interested in taking part in the August walking challenge or helping with any other fundraising can message Daisy from there.

A JustGiving page has also been set up here
