THE Victorian Market in Inverness is to reopen to shoppers from Monday, Highland Council has confirmed.

The Provost of Inverness, Cllr Helen Carmichael said she was delighted to make the announcement on behalf of City of Inverness councillors.

Provost Carmichael said: “We very much look forward to welcoming people again to the city centre safely while adhering to Scottish Government guidelines.

"The economic recovery of our local businesses is vital to the overall economy and wellbeing of Inverness and the Highlands. Please take the opportunity to support local businesses who have worked very hard to adapt their shops to make it as safe as possible for customers.”

There will be some changes when people visit the market and everyone is asked to respect the guidelines that are being implemented by each business.

A one-way system will be in place in the Market Hall and all shoppers and visitors are asked to adhere to and follow the directional signage around the walkways.

Other changes in place are that the accessible toilet will remain closed and dogs will not be allowed into the market for the time being (with the exception of guide/support dogs).

The market opening hours will be: Monday to Saturday from 7am – 6pm, and Sunday 10am – 4pm.
