A ROSS-SHIRE woman who was helped through the trauma of two miscarriages and has fought to raise awareness of a rare condition has come up with the idea of a Valentine's Day raffle to spread the love to a cause close to her heart.

Kristen Scott (41), who is from Conon Bridge, is raising money for Raigmore Hospital's Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) through the venture.

She was helped by the SCBU through two miscarriages and when her son needed surgery after a triple brain haemorrhage.

Kristen started her own charity, Cavernoma Scotland, after being diagnosed with the rare condition in 2018 and finding a lack of awareness and help on offer.

She has since had three tumours and continues to fight the disease.

However, she believes in helping as many different people as she can and so wanted to show her appreciation of the SCBU with this fundraiser.

She said: "I want to show people that Cavernoma Scotland isn't about one main thing. We support other local charities as well.

"This one of course we chose because of everything Covid threw at them and the difference they are making to lives.

"In order to improve the quality of life it starts with the next generations. For me it's important to help out the first generation."

By entering a raffle, participants can win either a three course meal with Kristen at Bella Italia on Valentine's Day or one of three gift cards that are up for grabs.

Kristen hopes to give the money raised to the SCBU herself to show support.

She also has started a gofundme page for any general donations towards the SCBU that will run longer than Valentines day.

To enter the raffle, email Kristen at awarenessnorth@outlook.com and to donate to the gofundme visit https://gofund.me/1a0fea65.
