A VACANT B-listed building in the heart of Tain looks set to return to business use.

Highland Council planners have approved plans to modify the internal layout of 4 Market Street so that a foot care, hairdressing and beauty business can begin operating from the site.

Applicant Linda Finlayson of A’corn Footcare is seeking to subdivide the largest room using plasterboard partitions to form three rooms and a reception.

Granting approval, council planners said: “The building has been vacant for some time and previously occupied by a café/restaurant.

“The proposed partitions and vinyl could be readily removed in the future (making the proposal reversible), causing minimal damage to the original fabric. It is considered the impact on the character and setting of the Listed Building is considered to be minor-to-negligible and therefore considered acceptable.”
