UPDATE (11:35am): A PERSON has suffered “potentially serious injuries” after a car and lorry collided on the A9 near Alness this morning.

The collision, which Traffic Scotland has described as “serious”, occurred at Milnafua at around 8.15am.

The road is currently closed in both directions, with diversions in place via Invergordon.

Police said one person suffered “potentially serious” injuries. No further information is currently known.

Traffic Scotland is warning that the duration of the road closure is “unknown at present” but stressed that it would be closed for "a period of time for incident investigation work" and urged motorists to “use an alternative route at this time and allow extra time for their journey”.

They added that the diversion in place via Invergordon "is seeing heavy queuing traffic."
