A SHAGGY dog story had a happy ending after police traced a missing pet's owners.

Officers in Alness had launched an appeal this morning (Thursday) after a Yorkshire Terrier was handed into the town's police station having been found wandering in Obsdale Road.

But less than an hour after launching the appeal, the officers were pleased to report that the pooch's owner had been found.

"We're happy to say that the Yorkshire terrier handed in at Alness earlier has now been reunited with his owner," confirmed officers. "Thanks to everyone who shared our earlier appeal for helping get him home."
