UPDATE: Find of women’s body in River Conon being treated as “unexplained” by Police Scotland

Police are treating the discovery of a woman’s body in the waters of a Ross-shire river as “unexplained” but not suspicious.

The woman has not yet been named by Police Scotland, but the force identified her as a 54-year-old.

Next of kin now believed to have been informed of her death, with investigations continuing.

A road over the River Conon was cordoned off and closed to both traffic and pedestrians on Wednesday morning as investigations began.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said : “At around 8am on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 the body of a woman was discovered in the River Conon, Dingwall.

“The body was recovered and has now been identified as a 54 year old woman.

"The death is being treated as unexplained but not thought to be suspicious. Enquiries are ongoing."
