UPDATE: A9 to remain closed near Invergordon for inquiry on two-vehicle crash

Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash near Invergordon which occurred this morning at around 10.30am.

The road has been closed for more than six hours after a crash involving a car and a lorry at Delny.

Two people were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after the collision.

Police have now confirmed that the road remains closed due to the ongoing collision investigation with diversions in place as follows:

  • Northbound - Turn right onto the B817 at Tomich and travel northbound past Saltburn to the A9/B817 Junction at Kildary – after that, follow permanent signing.
  • Southbound - Turn Left onto the B817 and travel southbound through Saltburn to the A9/B817 Junction at Saltburn and turn right onto the B817 – after that, follow permanent signing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.30am on Tuesday, 19 December, 2023, we received a report of a crash involving a car and a lorry on the A9 near Invergordon. Emergency services are in attendance. Diversions are in place."

It is unknown how long the closure will last at the time of writing.
