THE A9 has reopened following an earlier crash, Traffic Scotland has announced.

The road was closed both ways following the crash between Golspie and Brora at around 7.30am.

Emergency services were called to the scene.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said that two appliances – one from Golspie and another from Dornoch – were called to the scene of the crash, which they said involved one vehicle.

After "making the vehicle safe" the two appliances were stood down and left the scene shortly after 9am.

There was no immediate word on the vehicle's number of occupants, or whether they were uninjured.

Traffic Scotland, which first announced the closure of the A9 shortly before 8.15am, posted an update at 9.40am to confirm that the road had since reopened.
