THE A9 has re-opened following a collision earlier this evening in Easter Ross.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the incident just north of Alness on the Highlands' busiest trunk road.

Police said they had responded to reports of a crash and Traffic Scotland confirmed at around 7.35pm that there had been a collision.

Full details of what happened have yet to be officially confirmed.

But the road was declared clear and open at 10.55pm tonight.
