Unplanned SSEN outage leaves properties in Alness without power

Properties in Alness are without power this morning as a result of a unplanned outage.

The fault, which was reported at 8.56am, is understood to be affecting premises near Alness High Street.

Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) have confirmed that engineers are on route and aim to restore power by 12.50pm.

The following postcode areas are understood to be affected:

IV17 0PS, 0PT, 0PU, 0PX, 0PY, 0QB, 0QD and 0QW

Averon Leisure Centre, which is situated on Alness High Street, confirmed the loss of supply on social media, stating: "At this present moment there is no way of getting in contact with the centre due to an electricity issue. Will update as soon as possible. Thank you for understanding and sorry for any inconvenience caused."

A statement from the energy provider said: "We're sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed. Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can."

UPDATE (11.13am, January 5, 2024): Power has now been restored.
