The Ullapool Sea Savers have cleaned-up 17kg of marine litter from one of the Summer Isles.

Eilean Fada Mor is one of the Summer Isles, located between Tanera Mor and Tanera Beag, across from Achiltibuie on the mainland. The islands are renowned for their beauty, but they are not excluded from the widespread issue of marine litter.

Local environmentalist group, the Ullapool Sea Savers, took it upon themselves to uplift some of the marine litter on the island.

The Sea Savers said: “Ropes and netting were quite badly tangled around the rocks, so it took quite a while to clear, but it was a very satisfying result!

“Thanks to Will Goodall Copestake from Kayak Summer Isles, for securing other plastic items above the tideline so we could easily uplift them when we came.

“Thank you also to Fishing For Litter for Ullapool Harbour Trust for providing facilities for safe disposal of another 17kg of marine litter.”
