Tributes paid to two victims of fatal three-vehicle crash on A96 near Inverness

Tributes have begun flooding in following the tragic deaths of two people in a crash on the A96 near Inverness earlier this week.
Chris Haycock (53), from Nairn, and Helen Booth (51), from Bolton, died following a three-vehicle collision between a Tesla, Citroen van and lorry in the Allanfearn/Balloch area on Monday lunchtime.
Ms Booth died at Raigmore Hospital shortly after the crash, while Mr Haycock died on Wednesday. Both were in the Tesla at the time of the crash.
A 37-year-old man, who was driving the van, was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for serious injuries, while a 23-year-old male passenger in the Tesla was taken to Raigmore for medical assessment and later released. The 69-year-old male driver of the lorry was uninjured.
Following the deaths of Mr Haycock and Ms Booth, shocked Highland residents have flocked to social media to pay tribute.
Paul Aspin, commenting on the Police Scotland Facebook page where Mr Haycock and Ms Booth were formally named last night by officers, said: "What an absolute tragedy. I knew Chris well... and he was one very special, friendly and likeable guy.
"My thoughts are with all the families involved and their friends at this very difficult time."
David M Edes added: "Such a tragedy. Chris was such a lovely man. Thoughts are with his wife and children".
Other comments include Lindsay Terron, who added: "Absolutely heartbreaking news. Thoughts to all their family and friends."
And others voiced their concerns over the number of deaths on the likes of the A96.
Kathy Hay said: "Such sad news of unnecessary deaths. Highland roads are death traps due to the amount of traffic and not enough dual carriageways."
She continued: "I feel sick hearing these deaths. Thoughts with families who have lost."
And Lianne Cumming added: "That road is horrendous something needs to be done. So sad these people have lost their lives. Thoughts go to their families."
