ScotRail has urged customers across the Highlands to check journeys before travelling, with some late cancellations expected as trade union members take part in an overtime boycott.

The ban on overtime and rest day working is part of action short of a strike from the RMT union.

As part of a separate dispute with UK-wide Network Rail the union has also announced plans for 24-hour stoppgaes on November 3, 5 and 7.

RMT general secretary Mick Lynch accused Network Rail of “dishonesty” in negotiations over pay and conditions.
