Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness to close its doors 'until further notice' from start of next week; move comes in wake of Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic

ONE of the Highlands' most prestigious hotels is set to close its doors 'until further notice' in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Kingsmills Hotel, in Inverness, made the announcement this evening (Friday), just hours after the UK government stepped up its response to the outbreak.
Posting a statement on social media, a spokesman for the hotel said: "This is a hard post to make but as of noon on Monday, March 23, the Kingsmills Hotel will be closed until further notice from the government.
"We believe this is the correct thing to do to ensure the safety of our guests and associates during this current situation. We are working hard to contact guests with future reservations.
"We ask that everyone looks after one another during these trying times. Having been inspired by the gestures of kindness seen nationwide this week and how communities have banded together we know we can get through this and emerge stronger than ever!
"Until then, stay safe, follow healthcare directions and show kindness and love to others.
"We look forward to opening the Kingsmills' doors once again to all of our incredible guests from around the globe. Best wishes, Team Kingsmills."
The announcement came just minutes after the hotel praised the UK government's move to close all restaurants and pubs in a bid to tackle the spread of the virus.
