Third man faces attempted murder charge after alleged Alness axe attack

A THIRD man has appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court in connection with an alleged axe attack on an Alness man.
Thomas Hooson (27) of no fixed abode, was remanded in custody by Sheriff Gary Aitken after making no plea to a charge of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.
Two other men – 21-year-old Leon Headey and 32-year-old Lee Fraser – are also facing a charge of attempted murder following the alleged attack in Kirkside in the Easter Ross town on October 23 this year.
Fraser was released on bail at full committal stage after a successful application by his solicitor, David Patterson.
The charge states that they assaulted a man, repeatedly struck him on the head and body with an axe, a hammer or similar implement and a quantity of knives, causing him to fall to the ground to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and to the danger to his life, and did attempt to murder him.
Headey was also charged with possessing an offensive weapon, namely an axe.
Headey had already been remanded in custody after he appeared in court charged with the murder of 36-year-old Inverness father, Ross MacGillivray, at a house in St Ninian's Drive between November 11 and 12.
Another Alness man, 28-year-old Craig Hayden, is also facing the same murder charge.
