Bigger Tesco stores in the Highland capital have stopped asking customers to use a one-way system when shopping.

The system had been put in place as part of safety measures designed to halt the spread of coronavirus.

A source close to the supermarket chain said: "It's been removed as restrictions are starting to be relaxed, and to give our customers an easier shopping trip in line with the government relaxing the guidelines.

"It does rely heavily on the customers adhering to the government guidelines though, as we are unable to enforce it in-store.

"We can only advise customers to follow the government guidelines, which you can imagine is easier said than done.

"It is the same across all large Tesco stores."

Customers will be asked to wear face coverings when visiting any shop in Scotland from tomorrow.
