Teens appear in Inverness Sheriff Court over unconnected attacks in Ross-shire

TWO 18 year old men appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court today (Monday) following separate incidents in Ross-shire at the weekend.

Police Scotland issued the following statement before Campbell Brett from Dingwall and Dylan Thorpe from Ullapool appeared before Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood.

It read: "Two men have been arrested and charged following two separate attacks in Ross-shire, over the weekend.

"Just after midnight on Saturday, 1 August, 2020, two men, aged 25 and 26 years, were seriously injured after a disturbance in Mill Street, Ullapool. Both were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where they were treated and have since been discharged."

Thorpe made no plea to charges of assault to severe injury and danger of life; assault to injury and assault to injury and permanent disfigurement. He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

The statement went on: "The second incident was also on Saturday, 1 August. On this occasion, a 36-year-old man was seriously injured following an incident at an address in Hill Street, Dingwall, around 5.10am.

"He was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where he remains for treatment. Medical staff describe his condition as stable.

"The incidents are not linked."

Brett faced a charge of attempted murder with a knife. He made no plea, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
