A TEENAGER airlifted to hospital after a fall in the Gairloch area has died of his injuries.

Craig Cathie (19) was walking in a group of 16 in the Flowerdale Estate on Monday when he fel between 20 and 30 feet, sustaining a head injury.

Mr Cathie, from Moodiesburn, near Glasgow was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital after the fall but sadly died in hospital.

Next of kin have been informed and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Meanwhile in a separate development in the Cairngorms, police have said that the search for missing Yorkshire man Grant Cunliffe (49) has been stood down.

A third day of searches has failed to find any trace of the missing man "and his family have been made aware there will be no further searches tomorrow", police said in a statement.

Mr Cunliffe, from North Yorkshire, has been missing in the Cairngorms since Thursday, January 19.

Around 180 rescue personnel have been involved in the searches over the past three days.
