Tain's Star Inn pub has raised more than £1000 for Highland mental health charity Mikeysline to help people "hopefully realise they aren't alone".

Owners of the Tain pub, Scott and Caroline Crombie, said they had the last-minute idea to put on an event-filled fundraiser weekend starting on August 4, only days beforehand.

They said: "It was all very much late notice, so we are delighted with how it turned out given such late notice."

The Star Inn held a quiz night with live music from Keilan Ross on the Saturday, and finally a darts competition and a raffle on the Sunday.

Scott and Caroline said: "We cant thank our punters enough for digging deep and turning up to make those three days the success that they were. We are also very grateful to all the local businesses who generously gave towards our raffle as well.

"It was a lot of hard work for us to pull it off, but it was worth it for such a wonderful cause. Mikeysline is something very close to both of us, so we were more than happy to help them, and raise awareness in any way we can."

Explaining why they chose to raise funds for Mikeysline, owners Scott and Caroline said: "The Star is more than a pub to us and our punters. It's a place where people who live alone, or are lonely, or maybe finding life a bit tough can come and socialise… Where teas and coffees are free for them. They can come and get the craic, have a laugh and hopefully realise that they aren’t alone."
