A COMMUNITY group in Tain teamed up with other agencies to support a number of local families in the town and surrounding villages during the coronavirus crisis.

Tain and District Youth Cafe YMCA said it was a "one-off initiative and we sincerely wish we could have done more to help".

The group has signposted other help available to people having difficulties during the lockdown. It said: "We would like to remind anyone who maybe struggling for food that the Tain food bank has extended its opening hours to every Tuesday and Thursday 10am-3pm and can be further extended if there is need.

"There is also the Highland Council help line 0300 303 1362 this will put you in touch with your local hub and army of volunteers that can assist with a variety of issues. Stay safe everyone and stay home whenever possible."
