Heather Macmillan, who is a volunteer with Highland Hospice at their Tain shop, was nominated for a case study in the Roots to Parliament volunteer exhibition – a new initiative to celebrate the rich and diverse history of the community of people engaged in various roles at the House of Commons.

The nomination coincided with Volunteers' Week, held between June 1-7 every year to recognise the contribution volunteers make to their communities.

Ms Macmillan, who also works for local MSP Jamie Stone as an office manager and senior caseworker, was featured alongside entries from across the UK.

A Highland Hospice representative said: "Congratulations to Heather Macmillan from our Tain shop.

"The exhibition showcased the diverse members of the parliamentary community and how they affect change outside of their roles in their local areas.

"Volunteering with Highland Hospice since 2007, we are so proud of Heather to see her recognised for all her hard work."

Jamie Stone MP added: "For many years Heather has put her heart into the Tain Highland Hospice shop. It is lovely to see her dedication being recognised in this way."
