A SPECIAL surprise for children at a Ross-shire school courtesy of an anonymous donor has set the scene for Christmas and highlighted the community spirit which has shone in a dark year.

Dingwall Community Fridge gifted pupils at St Clement’s School selection boxes after a mystery donation. The fridge offers free food to anyone who might need it and reduces waste. It is located between the new block of St Clement’s and the community centre in Tulloch Street.

Fiona Harrison, chairwoman of Dingwall Community Fridge, said: “We have received an anonymous donation with the only stipulation being that we give a gift to children. As we have such a great relationship with St Clement’s, it has been decided that we will give a Christmas gift of selection boxes to the children attending the school as a goodwill gesture from us to them.

“We hope that this will bring many smiles to the children and a real sense of Christmas good cheer after such a difficult year.”

The community fridge is holding two stock-ups for Christmas, when it will distribute bags of tinned meat and other goods to help people get through the festive period. They will take place on December 19 and December 22, between 10am and 2pm.
