Children in the Highlands will be able to take part in organised activities from mountain biking to intensive swimming lessons this summer.

High Life Highland is running its popular Schools Out summer programme which includes more than 1000 activities.

Steve Walsh, High Life Highland chief executive, said: "I am delighted that it looks like we are going to be able to deliver a full programme again this year across the Highlands.

"I know how important our Schools Out programme is to local communities in a normal year so to be able to deliver a full programme this year is a huge milestone for all of us."

Activities already planned include Bookbug sessions as well as outdoor activities such as stand-up paddleboard, and the charity is confident of adding more before the summer starts.

Andy Macleod, High Life Highland’s outdoor events and facilities manager said: "We are working hard to provide as much as we can and are currently talking to local instructors to see if we can add anything else to the programme.

"It will be fantastic to see our young people being able to enjoy activities again that we may have taken for granted prior to the pandemic."

A full list can be viewed from Monday, May 17 and bookings will open at 7am on Monday, June 7.
