A woman was assaulted despite a man being banned from approaching or contacting her, by a court order.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Kieran Sehar (25) of Ardival Court, Strathpeffer, was on bail with conditions to stay away from his victim when he carried out the assault.

On February 15 this year he defied the court instruction by going to the woman's home in Craigton Avenue, Inverness and contacting her.

When police were called to the property, Sehar acted in a threatening or abusive manner towards them and uttered threats of violence.

On April 27, Sehar again contacted the woman at her home but on this occasion he seized her by the hair and punched her on the head.

Sehar admitted two breaches of bail, assault and aggressive behaviour.

Sheriff Gary Aitken deferred sentence until February 1 for a background report and an assessment on Sehar's suitability for a domestic abuser rehabilitation programme.
