Scotrail is warning that storms will cause delays on today’s train services between Inverness and Aberdeen.

The rail operator says it will enforce speed restrictions on the line as #StormCiarán brings heavy rain.

The move will also affect services between Berwick and Edinburgh, Edinburgh and Dundee, and Dundee and Aberdeen and the comp[any is urging passengers to check their journeys before travelling here.

A Scotrail spokesman said: “These speed restrictions mean we can still operate our services while keeping everyone safe, but they will cause delays along the affected routes.”

The first of these restrictions will be in place from 3pm today until 8am on Saturday.

Cancellations are continuing on the far north line between Inverness and Wick due to urgent repairs to the railway between Helmsdale and Brora.

Disruption is expected to continue until Monday, November 6.
