THE imminent arrival of Storm Babet has sparked a warning to ferry passengers of possible disruption to CalMac services crossing the Minch.

The Ullapool-Stornoway service departing Wester Ross on Wednesday evening at 5.30pm "is liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice" due to the forecast for strong easterly winds.

All services on Thursday – and the overnight freight service – are also at risk of possible disruption or cancellation.

A CalMac spokesman said: "We’ll keep customers informed should there be any further changes in connection to this route.

"If you’ve not already done so, download our app or follow our Twitter @CalMac_Updates so we can provide you with timely updates, with the latest information we have available. Alternatively, you can also sign up to our service status text updates."
