MOUNTAIN rescuers have urged people to continue to stay away from Ross-shire peaks this Bank Holiday weekend – as the Covid-19 lockdown continues.

Posting on its Facebook page, Torridon Mountain Rescue Team praised those people who had adhered to the lockdown's rules to stay home and save lives.

And they urged the public not to be tempted to break that with the arrival of the bank holiday weekend.

"As we approach the holiday weekend, we'd like to thank you for keeping our Torridon Mountain Rescue Team volunteers quiet over the last few weeks," they said.

"Let's keep it that way this weekend and stay safe, stay local, stay well. The hills will wait."
