PREDICTED high winds in Wester Ross have prompted a warning to locals and visitors to avoid an area of community woodland as a precaution.

The warning from Laide and Aultbea Community Woodland comes in the wake of weather warnings covering a swathe of Ross-shire.

The group took to its social media page to state: "Just a note to make visitors to Laide and Aultbea Community Woodland aware of the high winds that are forecast for the next few days.

"Although there are high winds today and Wednesday, peak wind strengths are expected tomorrow. There will be a lull on Thursday and the high winds will return again on Friday and Saturday. Our advice is NOT to enter the woods while the high winds are in force as there is a chance of falling trees and branches."
