The founder of Inverness Gymnastics Club has passed away.

The funeral of Lilian Davidson, who started Inverness and District Amateur Gymnastics Club in 1978, is due to take place this Friday.

A message on the gymnastic club's Facebook page said: "We were saddened to hear last week of the passing of Lilian Davidson, former head coach and founder of Inverness Gymnastics Club.

"Lilian started Inverness and District Amateur Gymnastics Club in 1978 working from what was then the New Inverness Royal Academy.

"Her commitment and enthusiasm over the many years that followed laid the foundations for the club we know today."

It continued: "A funeral service for Lilian will be at 11.30am on Friday November 20 at the funeral home of William T. Fraser and Son, Culduthel Road, Inverness.
