Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team member Dave Mitchell and his border collie Skye were awarded the Madras College Trophy as best novice team after a three-day assessment at Glencoe by the Search and Rescue Dog Association (SARDA).

This marks the end of the first half of two years of training before Dave and Skye become a fully qualified SARDA team.

Although attached to individual mountain rescue teams such as Dundonnell, which covers a large part of Ross-shire, SARDA dogs and their handlers may be tasked to respond to mountain rescue call-outs anywhere in Scotland.
