AN Easter Ross hotel has sustained "significant damage" after a break-in which has sparked a police probe.

Highland police are appealing for information after the hotel was broken into in the Scotsburn Road area of Tain.

The incident happened between 3.30pm on Tuesday, February 1 and noon on Thursday, February 3.

The appeal for information was issued this afternoon.

Police said damage was caused to a window and door at the Mansfield Castle Hotel.

Detective Agnieszka Paluch said: “Those responsible also entered the hotel’s office and overall there has been significant damage that will be expensive to repair.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area at the time to get in touch."
