A 42-year-old Wester Ross man who lived in a street named 'Temperance' got so drunk he was arrested outside his former partner's house.

Fish farm worker Ross Mackenzie, of Temperance Brae, Shieldaig, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted abusive or threatening behaviour at a nearby house on April 30 this year.

Fiscal depute David Barclay told the court that Mackenzie went to the property heavily intoxicated and late in the evening to speak to the woman.

"He was wanting entry to the house, shouting and swearing, and banging on doors and windows.

"He was told it was not the time to do that and that he was in no condition to get in."

Mr Barclay added that the complainer did not want a non-harassment order put in place.

"She hopes he has learned his lesson," he went on.

Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald agreed and told Mackenzie: "I hope you have too."

Defence solicitor Duncan Henderson said: "He apologises for his behaviour."

Sentence was deferred for good behaviour until January 5 next year. Mackenzie was told he need not re-appear if he has not come to the attention of the police.
