The case was heard at Inverness Sheriff Court.

A 39-year old self-employed mechanic who lost his temper with his partner was fined £260.

Benjamin Wilson of Great North Road, Muir of Ord appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court after sentence had previously been deferred for a background report.

He admitted threatening or abusive behaviour towards the woman in their home between February 22 and 23, 2021 by striking kitchen units, a freezer and damaging his partner's mobile phone by repeatedly hitting it on a counter.

Defence solicitor John MacColl said: "There has been an 11-year gap in his offending and he has no previous convictions of a domestic nature.

"The report is a positive one and the author assesses him as a person who is not at risk of causing serious harm.

"He accepts responsibility for losing his temper."
