Dingwall and Highland Mart sheep sale figures

DINGWALL and Highland Marts Ltd today sold 179 rams at its annual show and sale of Blackface rams.

Shearlings (139) sold to £1,900 gross from Milton Farm, Aberarder.

Two shears (17) sold to £1,100 gross from Blackford Farm, Croy.

Three shears (6) sold to £500 gross from Braes of Ardeonaig, Killin.

Four shears (1) sold to £300 gross from Tulloch Farm, Dingwall.

Ram lambs (14) sold to £350 gross from Harestone, Insch.

Aged rams (2) sold to £700 gross from Bomakelloch, Drummuir.

Other leading prices per head:

Shearlings – Harestone, Insch, £1,750, Bomakelloch, Drummuir, £1,700, Milton Farm, £1,500, Crackaig Blackies, Blackpark,

£1,450, Beldhu, Croy, £1,400.

Two shears – Blackford Farm, £1,000, Newton of Crathie, Ballater, £900.

Three shears – 4 Balmeanach, Struan, £380, Braes of Ardeonaig, £320.

Ram lambs – Harestone, £300, Invernahyle, £260.

Aged rams – Tulloch Farm, £400.

Also sold were 1846 Blackface ewes, gimmers and ewe lambs.

Ewe Lambs (107) averaged £56.46 (last year £38.77) and sold to £79 gross for a pen of Blackfaces from Newton of Crathie,

Ballater.

Ewes (1489) averaged £59 (last year £38.85) and sold to £132 gross for a pen of Blackfaces from Woodside of Culloden.

Gimmers (244) averaged £122.39 (last year £77.68) and sold to £170 gross for a pen of Blackfaces from Tulloch Farm, Dingwall.

Feeding sheep (6) sold to £48 gross for a Blackface wedder from North Raasay Sheep Stock Club.
