A serial stalker has been jailed for 32 months for a catalogue of sexually motivated offences dating back more than seven years.

Joseph Stewart (23) exposed himself to a girl at a house party after consuming alcohol some time between October 2015 and 2016, Inverness Sheriff Court heard previously.

He then went on to sexually assault another female in her home in March 2019 after entering her house in the Aultbea area, despite being not invited.

He also admitted stalking charges involving various women between 2019 and 2021, sending sexual messages and appearing at some of their properties and causing a disturbance.

In total there were four charges relating to engaging in a course of conduct likely to cause fear and alarm to different women between 2019 and 2021 in the Wester Ross area.

Sentence had been deferred for reports and Stewart, a prisoner at HMP Inverness, had been remanded since January of this year.

Sheriff Gary Aitken said one of the encounters in particular must have been "extremely distressing" for his victim.

Stewart was made subject to non-harassment orders for three years, jailed for 32 months and placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
