'Serious' road crash on A87 in Wester Ross leaves man and two children needing hospital treatment

ONE man is in hospital in Glasgow with 'serious' injuries and two children required treatment at Raigmore in Inverness following a crash between a lorry and car in Wester Ross yesterday.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the crash, which occurred on the A87 between Kyle of Lochalsh and Balmacara at around 3.50pm on Thursday.

The man (37) and children (aged six and 10) were travelling in the car. The 49-year-old male lorry driver also sustained minor injuries,

The road was closed for more than nine hours while emergency services attended the scene, with the trunk route reopening at around 1am on Friday.

Further enquiries into the crash remain ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Sergeant Ally MacKay, from the Dingwall Road Policing Unit, said: “As we work to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident, we ask anyone who was on that stretch of road and either witnessed the crash or either of the vehicles beforehand to please contact police.

“We are also keen to hear from any motorists who may have potential dashcam footage.

“If you have any information, please contact police on 101, quoting incident 2680 of 1 June, 2023.”
