A SECOND day of searching has failed to locate a hillwalker who is missing in the Highlands.

At around 8.19pm on Saturday, Police Scotland received a report of an overdue walker in an area known as Ring of Steall, in the Mamore mountain range near Fort William.

Eric Cyl (62) from England, was last sighted setting off on Saturday morning, wearing a light grey jacket and dark trousers. He is of as a stocky build and with short grey hair.

Mr Cyl, who is an experienced hillwalker, is walking alone and aided by two walking poles.

The initial search involved both Lochaber and Glencoe mountain rescue teams, assisted by Search and Rescue Dogs and HM Coastguard helicopter.

Searches recommenced at around 8am today (Monday), with sniffer dogs and their handlers, RAF Lossiemouth Mountain Rescue Team and Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team deployed to the area.

Anyone who has seen Mr Cyl on the hill or may have been out walking in the Ben Nevis/Glen Nevis/Mamores area and who may have seen someone fitting Mr Cyl’s description are urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.
