BACKROOM staff are bracing themselves for another hectic day at Victoria Park as the second tranche of tickets for the eagerly anticipated tussle with Celtic goes on sale.

As predicted, Monday morning saw a brisk demand for tickets with diehard Staggies' fans queueing to get their hands on briefs for the Scottish Communities League Cup third round fixture on Wednesday, September 21.

The last time the sides met, it was Ross County who came out on top - at Hampden Park - against all the odds. That Scottish Cup semifinal victory has given added spice to the home fixture against the Hoops.

Head of administration at Ross County, Ranald Gilbert, told the Journal that there had been "a huge demand for tickets" when they first went on sale on Monday.

The club has sought to ensure that its most loyal supporters and season ticket holder get first shout on tickets for what seems sure to be a sell-out.

Said Mr Gilbert, "All the fans have been in great spirits and are really excited by the prospect of having Celtic at Victoria Park - not just a great occasion but also the feeling seems to be that we should be able to give them a run for their money on the pitch!"

The phone is expected to be ringing off the hook on Tuesday as season ticket holders get the opportunity to order tickets by telephone.

Diehard County fan John Beaton now has a claim to fame of his own: he was first in the queue for tickets for the Scottish Cup fixture the Dingwall club played against Celtic away back in January 2004 and again this week!

Phone sales will open to season ticket holders on Tuesday from 10am by calling 01349 860860. Fans are asked to have their season ticket/s with them at the time of booking as information will be required for security checks.

Season ticket and debenture seat holders are guaranteed their own seat/ticket only until 2pm on Saturday, September 10, with the club hosting Partick Thistle in the First Division that day.

Additional tickets will be sold to season ticket holders on a first come, first served basis with an allocation of additional tickets being reserved for those season ticket holders purchasing tickets over the phone on Tuesday.

Tickets then go on open sale to the general public on Wednesday, September 7, again in person only at Victoria Park from 9am until 7pm.

Phone sales to the general public will commence from 10am on Thursday, September 8, running through until 5pm.
