THE Highland Military Tattoo is continuing its tradition of attracting top international performers with this year’s headline act.

The Royal Band of the Belgian Navy is the latest addition to this year’s programme as the Tattoo returns to Fort George in September.

Founded in 1947 and based in Ostend, the 36 member band has performed all over the world, entertaining world leaders and dignitaries.

Their music has a distinct maritime flavour, complementing the naval theme of this year’s show, which also includes a vignette commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Jutland.

The Rosyth based Band of The Royal Marines Scotland will also be joining the Tattoo line up, fresh from a busy year of official engagements including birthday celebrations for Her Majesty The Queen.

Highland Military Tattoo director Major General Seymour Monro said: "We are delighted the Royal Band of the Belgian Navy is making its first ever visit to Scotland to join us at the Highland Military Tattoo. "A group of exceptionally accomplished musicians, they have performed for VIPs all over the world and we are thrilled they will be taking part in what promises to be a fantastic show at Fort George."

This year’s Tattoo runs each evening from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 September, with a matinee performance on Saturday 10 September.

Tickets are now on sale from Ticketline on 0844 888 9991 or www.ticketline.co.uk/highland-military-tattoo, Eden Court and The Highlanders’ Museum at Fort George.

They are priced from £28 to £35, with concessions for children under 12, disabled people with carers and OAPs are available.
