A ROSS-shire village will this afternoon get into the festive mood with an outdoor Christmas market and Santa's grotto event.

Muir of Ord Development Trust is running the event from 1pm to 3pm in the village square, opposite the Muir Hub.

Local legend Aldie the Post (Aldie Fraser) will be arriving as Santa on his sleigh, on loan from Dingwall Rotary Club.

It has all-singing and dancing lights, music and bells. Santa's Grotto will be a magical wonderland scene with lights and decorations and illuminated animals.

The Muir community Coop is donating children's selection boxes for Santa's sack and there will be mince pies and mulled wine with biscuits and juice for the kids.

There will be 16 local craft stalls and street food from Bad Girl Bakery and the Muir Hub Cafe & Smokepit.
