Dance challenge laid down as scene set for Lockdown Prom in Ullapool

A PROM night invite with a difference has been issued to people in a Wester Ross community ahead of an event which aims to put the fun into fundraiser tonight.
The Lockdown Prom 2020 was dreamt up by Lochbroom and Ullapool Church of Scotland minister Heidi Hercus as a way for locals to have some fun at home during the coronavirus crisis.
There's a also some prizes up for grabs to find the best dressed, the best dancing and the most creative place to dance during the Friday night event.
Issuing an open invitation for people to get dressed up and join in the event, at which people taking part can post clips,pictures or messages via Facebook if they wish, Rev Hercus said: "We know there is much in the world to think about and get upset about at the moment so tonight is a night to forget about coronavirus for one night and to have fun and be silly and celebrate the things that are good such as music and laughter and love and getting dressed up and feeling good."
Donations are invited for the work of the church during and after the public health crisis but are not mandatory. She said the most important thing was for people to have some fun in their homes or gardens while continuing to observe social distancing.
It's also seen as a chance for people who missed milestone events – such as end of term celebrations at school – to celebrate.
Rev Hercus, who graduated from the Highland Theological College in Dingwall and did placements in Rosskeen, Alness and Conon Bridge before moving to the Ullapool area, said: "We want to make it as inclusive as possible. People can join in on watch parties or share their pictures or videos.I'm sure we'll muddle through!"
