A car parked in the wrong place has cost a Conon Bridge man a £740 fine after he lost his temper with the rogue motorist.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that 60-year-old Charles Urquhart of the village's Sellar Place, went round to Fraser Street at about 11.30pm on June 17, where his mother lives next door to the people with the vehicle.

Fiscal depute David Morton told Sheriff Robert Frazer: "He was seen by the couple placing an item of clothing on the car after they went to look outside to see who was causing a disturbance.

"He was told to move away but he took exception to this and threatened to slash the tyres.

"He made other unpleasant threats and challenged the man to fight. Police were called."

Defence solicitor Rory Gowans said: "There is a designated parking space for my client's 79-year-old mother who lives next door.

"It was an issue which has been going on for some time and upsetting his mother. When he saw that the car should not be there, he lost his composure."

Sheriff Frazer told Urquhart: "This is your sixth conviction in the last 10 years for this type of offence. It tells me a lot about your temper."
